Raincoaster gets today’s handwritten valentine. This toy bulldozer just reminds me of her - strong and doesn’t take life too seriously.
I’m pretty sure my memory is still intact. I may have an overactive imagination, but I’m certain I’m not quite delusional.
Then someone explain to me where are my posts in this thread where I was wondering about the bug myself. The bug in question being that I and some other users are unable to delete subscribed blogs from our Blog Surfers in Dashboard.
I don’t think the thread where I posted in is closed, because I’d be able to track it through my forums profile. It couldn’t be deleted, because I remember this is the thread I posted in, from the OP to the others who complained about the bug. Except this time there are a few other posts I don’t remember reading.
I don’t see what I’ve written that warrants a deletion of all my posts in the thread. I wasn’t cussing that’s for sure. To the best of my memory, I said that of the four blogs I wanted to unsubscribe, I could do it for two but not the other two. (Another user reported the same thing later on in the thread.) Then I revived the thread a couple of days later asking for an update. That’s about it I think.
Besides my posts being deleted, there was one by Hanni the moderator claiming that staff is aware of this bug and is looking into it, and we would be informed in that thread for updates. I also remember another posted exclaiming yay for that.
I’d love to show you a screenshot of my posts in that thread, but see, this is about only the second time I’ve seen my posts deleted in a thread, the first time due to me indeed cussing in an off-topic thread.
The forums is usually quite open; even if they do close threads, you can still read them. I can’t see why those posts were (stealthily) deleted, that’s why it’s fishy!
It’s kind of a small matter, really, so don’t mind me. A bit miffed about being deleted like that!
Edit: Mystery solved, thanks to cjwriter! Now I feel utterly daft, but hey, better me daft than my previous suspicions proved true.
So yeah, when is staff going to fix the bug in Blog Surfer?
Edit edit: Hmm, maybe my initial suspicion is true, though not in my case.

A) thanks for the valentine! I am glad to see you learned from me and put your URL in it!
B) that is truly weird. I have no idea why they did that. But still, better than Matt telling you “you really need to take a break” eh?
sulz: you’re welcome, and looks like mystery solved, thanks to cjwriter. for someone who’s been around forums for two years, you’d think i’d know how to find threads i posted in.

Oi: a small note: it’s “raincoaster.com” not “raincoaster.wordpress.com”. I totally need to conserve my technorati points under one URL. Operation Global Media Domination thanks you for your anticipated assistance in this regard.

Hi Sulz I don’t know what happened to your thread but I am fed up with the blog surfer problem, it has been weeks now. CJ said weird things were going on in the forums yesterday. He was quite baffled and slightly annoyed.
I see Raincoaster’s point about what happened to her but it is a worry that when things go wrong[as we don't pay for these services] it feels like we have no say even in the reporting of problems. It is absolutely pouring down with rain so I think I am going to get offline now.
sulz: well, on one hand, what we’re using is a free service. on the other, that doesn’t mean they should provide substandard service. maybe the bug is more difficult to solve than we expect? in that case, nothing to do but be patient, i guess!
yeah, don’t get your modem fried like i stupidly did!

Where did you find that truck? Yay, raincoaster (dot com) has a new toy!
It sure seems the fora are going through growing pains. I think they are about 14 in human years, and are experiencing adolescent hormonal shifts. Perhaps their voice will change soon and they’ll feel better.
My psychic powers tell me your posts will come back after the latest round of behind-the-scenes tweaking is completed. But I could be wrong.
sulz: my house is full of toys! kids love my place.
your psychic powers are right, since cjwriter helped me find the thread! now o clairvoyant, tell me when will i meet my true love? ![]()

I think I can help with the forum thread. The OP posted the question twice because of a spelling error (wouldn’t having the edit back be so much easier?); you posted in the original thread and all the posts are still there, the one you have here is the second thread. ![]()

As for the problem itself, it’s really weird… any blogs I’ve subscribed to from the last four months won’t delete, but ones from before that will. Very strange. It’d be nice to have an update from staff after ten days but I’ve switched to Google Reader now… at least I can control that.
And I’m with Muse, that tractor is adorable! Brings back memories of my grandfather’s farm.
sulz: haha, now i feel a bit silly.
strange was i couldn’t locate it in my forum profile. i guess i didn’t look properly!
heh, i’ve got lots of toys in my house. any kid will love me home.

I have been taking a break from the forums because whenever I go there, either to ask a question or give help, it’s like I’m lost in this great tidal wave. They are just drowning in stuff to do and problems to solve. I still have a laundry list of things I’d like to get solved, but have given up and decided to just live with it. It’s either that or quit blogging altogether, because I can’t see myself investing the time / money to set up and maintain my own site. Being on wordpress.com is a compromise, and people should remember that.
sulz: i know what you mean about the tidal wave! i just don’t know where to start when i do feel like helping out sometimes.
i do realise that, i think. i don’t plan to go the self-hosted route too, because i love the community feel here.

Sulz, dude, you outdo yourself with every greeting. I totally love that truck. Do you think I’ll be able to sit in it?
Good thing that the Forum thing got sorted out or else I was gonna say it looks like the moderators have started getting insecure because of all the “fights” that have started coming up recently. After all, they don’t want the forums to lose their image of being one of the most open and friendly and helpful forums around.
sulz: nah, i’m just lucky you love what i do!
hopefully you’ll think the same with yours. and no, the truck isn’t that huge really, haha!
hah, i don’t know what’s their image really. i used to think it’s an awesome forum, but now… it just seems like it’s an orphan - there’s a guardian, but no one who really cares about it.

Well I just want to officially say “Gung hei faat choi” today. Welcome to the year of the rat! By the way, that truck kicks ass and I could totally see Raincoaster driving it. I imagine it filled with squid in the back (or cheap Brandy), and I imagine a wrecking ball working in tandem with it to knock down the home of some club penguiner.
sulz: thank you, kong hei fatt choy to you too!
never knew the toy truck would be such a hit with the readers, haha!

I thought maybe Ziyi Zhang was showing some “knee” somewhere and you had the exclusive pics/video. A guy can dream can’t he?
Another angle I could’ve chosen was:
“xie are the knights who say ni!”

(reference video above)
sulz: haha, just because i showed my knee…
ps saw the youtube and it’s hilarious! though i don’t get it.

Oh that’s right, you did show some knee! And some fine knee it was! Who needs T&A, we get K&F (knee and foot) here on bloggerdygook! I like to think of it as “challenging the traditional limitations of beauty.”
The clip is from Monty Python and the Holy Grail - which is an absurd british comedy that is widely considered one of the best such films of all time.
If you hear people referencing “flesh wounds” or “killer rabbits” or “the air speed velocity of a latent swallow” - then you can rest assured they are hat-tipping to the Python clan.
My favorite line from the entire film comes as a King and his son the prince are staring out of the window at “swamp castle.”
King: “Just think lad, one day all this will be yours!”
Prince: “What? The curtains?”
sulz: haha, alright, as long as you found it pretty enough.
ah, so that’s monty python… very funny! the kind of funny i like to call sampat. (it’s cantonese and i don’t quite know how to explain its meaning. monty python is sampat, that should give you an idea on what it means.)

[...] sulz over at Bloggerdygook made me my very own, hand-written Valentine, accessorized with a lovely bulldozer! And one notes, one does, that in the first draft, she’d neglected a prime blog-pimping opportunity. No doubt inspired by my example, this oversight was immediately corrected and replaced with the above, blog-pimpatory, improvement. [...]

And so it continues…you will be getting some pingbacks soon from TeenyManolo. Hopefully one of the readers will pick it up.
sulz: i know, thanks much!
Say what?
