My Favourite Animal

My favourite animal is the cow. I like the cow because I was born in the Year of the Ox, according to the Chinese zodiac. Coincidentally, this year is my year, which is supposed to be a good one for me because it is my year. I think it is too, career-wise. Good things might yet to come in the love department!

I also like the cow because it’s cute. Well, its stuffed toy counterpart, that is. They are so much cuter than teddy bears, with their black patches on white. Their goofy smiles and beguiling eyes make me want to cuddle them like chubby, smiling toothless babies do.

I like the cow for the characteristics it is usually associated with. Cows go about life slowly and leisurely, yet they are so useful – you can make so many things out of a cow. Milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream, cheeseburgers… ๐Ÿ˜› Cows are steadfast, gentle, close-knit creatures. They are also big, stubborn, powerful and horny. As in, they have horns… Ha ha!

I would like to milk a cow some day, just for an unusual experience. I also want to get a pair or cow print shoes. Not made of cow leather, just as long as the flats has a cutesy cow print on it! I had a cow print pencil box before, but with brown patches. ๐Ÿ™‚ A cow print purse would be nice too! Or a cow print rug! Or oooh, cow print seats in my car! And, of course, if anyone wants to give me some cow stuffed toys I would be happy to receive them. ๐Ÿ˜€ I think that’s all the cow stuff I want to do in life at the moment.

What’s your favourite animal? And favourite colour? Mine’s turquoise.

  1. lol..this reminds me of the essay we had to write in school titled “Cow” ๐Ÿ˜€
My favorite animal is cat ๐Ÿ™‚ I find their attitude/nature quite like mineโ€ฆ sleepyhead, lazy, pampered, headstrong, inscrutable, aloof, self- sufficient, cool, lovable ๐Ÿ™‚
    And favorite color is red!!

sulz: do all indian students have to write cow essays? ๐Ÿ˜† cats are cool… ๐Ÿ˜Ž i like red too!

    • @Sulz : Yes, we all write Cows essay. ๐Ÿ™‚ And if you are in India, Cows can be seen in plenty sitting in the middle of busy roads and blocking the traffic. Not only cows but buffalo and Ox too!

sulz: haha… i wonder what a good cow essay would read like. ๐Ÿ˜€ we have cows crossing roads here in malaysia too but you have to go to the rural areas for a sight like that.

      • Ok I have to enlighten you ๐Ÿ™‚ The essay was mostly written in Hindi. Usually the Cow essay starts with the opening line “Gai hamari mata hai” which means “Cow is our mother” Then we went onto describe “it has four legs. It eats grass. It gives milk etc etc”
For a funnier version read this
        http://www.rajiv.com/india/humor/cow.htm

sulz: omg, that was hilarious stuff! not unlike the sort of english essays you might read in malaysia. thanks for the link. ๐Ÿ˜†

  2. i agree with Reema. the first thing that came to my mind when i read the post was the essay too. ๐Ÿ™‚

my cousin had one of those cow stuffed toys and when i saw it, i just fell in love with it. i held it with me like a baby throughout my visit to her place. i was 22yrs old then. people (family) started looking at me curiously as i have never been so into any stuffed toy. then i had to leave it there when my visit ended. my heart broke. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

i like dogs.. they are more interactive.

sulz: i must be missing school very much when i was inspired to write that, haha.

hehe, see, the power of the cow stuffed toy doesn’t only hit me! when will you visit that cousin again? ๐Ÿ™‚

even the stuffed kinds? ๐Ÿ˜› true… i’d like to own a dog some day, actually!

    • i also love dogs! i love them so much and i ask my parents for one, but they tell me that they will buy me one next year! oh my gosh! i am happy that there is someone that agree with me!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ i am 10 years old…

  3. see, about the cow essay everyone’s talking about, its a really common thing in primary school, esp. if u studied in India..cuz the cow’s associated with religion n stuff. so yea, reminded me of it too ๐Ÿ˜‰

    hmmm… lets see now..
my fav animal is the siberian tiger..
not that i’ve seen any for real..only on tv! ๐Ÿ˜›
its just that they’re so agile, strong and determined… makes me sit in awe.

fav colour…. shades of blue..depending on my mood!

sulz: ah, so it does bring back memories to all my indian readers, huh? ๐Ÿ˜€ hmm, why siberian and not just the typical tiger? in the cat family, i like the lynx, hehe. i like blue too… turquoise is blue! somewhat. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I clicked “Leave a Comment”, I thought I had the favourite animal and favourite colour decided but now that this page has loaded and I’m typing this… I have no freaking clue which animal is my favourite! I can’t decide! Ok ok… Let’s try colours first… Well, I like black… And red… And white… And green… Wait… Did you say *one* colour? LOL! OK, I think I like olive green the best (when it comes to t-shirts that is). For animals… I like mice… And lions… And dogs… I dunno… LOL!

sulz: how lah you wrote this essay when you were a kid at school then?? ๐Ÿ˜† too bad birthday cakes don’t come in olive green mice-/lion-/dog-shaped ones. ๐Ÿ˜› unless it’s a green tea cake?

  5. If I follow your path, I must say my fave animal is a dragon! ๐Ÿ™‚ Born in the year of the dragon. I love dogs not really a cat person. Some one recently told me if I wanted someone as detached after all the petting I would get a girl (I said I might replace that with a “guy” ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
Colour well, it is totally mood based – nothing too gaudy and that is that.

sulz: ooh, formidable! i like the real furry types of animals, doesn’t matter too much what sort they are. ๐Ÿ˜† no shocking pink for you then, huh? haha.

  6. Like Reema, my favorite animal is a cat, and for most of her reasons. I just read in a novel recently why the character’s cat is so important to her: “We have a deal! I feed him, shelter him, buy him toys and let him sleep on the bed. In exchange, he allows me to scratch him behind the ears, occasionally. If he’s in the mood.” Haha. Cows are nice, too. I didn’t have to study them, like in India. Instead, we studied horses—cowboys, taming the wild west, etc.
My favorite color (or colour) is PURPLE!!!
Cow-print shoes are very cute, but don’t overdo it: shoes, skirt & bag all in cow! ๐Ÿ˜‰

sulz: that sounds familiar, actually. what book is it? did you really study horses? i don’t think we malaysians studied any particular animal in detail, hmm… wow, that was unexpected! i thought you’d like a more earthy colour actually. ๐Ÿ˜› nah, a cow print skirt seems too weird, but a cow print top – maybe. ๐Ÿ˜‰ i’d love a cow print bag if i can find a nice one! as for cow print underwear… i have one already.

  7. My favorite animal is dogs especially small ones, except Chihuahuas. I am not a big fan of Chihuahuas. I also had a domesticated wolf for several years – he was one of the most loyal and gentle dogs I ever owned. I use his picture as my avatar. Hah – you already know my favorite color – Black! ๐Ÿ˜‰

sulz: a wolf, like a real wolf, seriously?? i thought it’s a wild animal – how did you domesticate it? i like black too… far too much, i think. my closet is 50% black! ๐Ÿ˜›

  8. I love animals (there are many) but I hate and fear geckos, cockroaches and snakes!

My fav colour is yellow! Even my room is yellow!

BTW, this is a funny essay widely available on the net on Cow (said to be written by a candidate in the Indian Civil Services exam but that’s not true).

<blockquote”The cow is a successful animal. Also he is quadrupud, and because he is
female, he give milk, but will do so when he is got child. He is same like
God,sacred to Hindus and useful to man.But he has got four legs together.
Two are forward and two are afterwards.

“His whole body can be utilised for use. More so the milk. What can it do?
Various ghee, butter, cream, curd, why and the condensed milk and so forth.
Also he is useful to cobbler, watermans and mankind generally.

“His motion is slow only because he is of asitudinious species. Also his
other motion is much useful to trees, plants as well as making flat cakes in
hand and drying in the sun. Cow is the only animal that extricates his feeding
after eating. Then afterwards she chew with his teeth whom are situated in
the inside of the mouth. He is incessantly in the meadows in the grass.

“His only attacking and defending organ is the horn, specially so when he is
got child. This is done by knowing his head whereby he causes the weapons
to be paralleled to the ground of the earth and instantly proceed with great
    velocity forwards.

“He has got tails also, but not like similar animals. It has hairs on the
other end of the other side. This is done to frighten away the flies which
alight on his cohoa body whereupon he gives hit with it.

The palms of his feet are soft unto the touch. So the grasses head is not
crushed. At night time have poses by looking down on the ground and he shouts
his eyes like his relatives, the horse does not do so.

    This is the cow.

    ๐Ÿ˜€

sulz: hehe, i read that essay – a previous commenter left a link to it. yes, it’s hilarious! and yes, i hate cockroaches with a passion too! wow, yellow… you must be a sunny person by nature? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. My wolf/dog was only half wolf. His mother was a domesticated white wolf and his father was a German Shepard. He was a gentle creature except to squirrels, rabbits and moles. He loved people – except those that were mean to children. He was really the best dog I ever had to be around children.

Speaking of cockroaches. (Not one of my favorite of God’s creatures.) But Andrew Zimmern sure seems to find them useful. For those of you that are really in to cockroaches and other squeamish items I give you the following link. Enjoy! Really enjoy – someone should, because I am not planning on enjoying them.

sulz: so you really can domesticate a wolf (in the case of his mom)! err, i think i’ll pass that link. ๐Ÿ˜›

  10. Wow…seems I am with old ‘tiny’ friends in kindergarden and thinking about writing an essay on my favorite animal. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I like the way cow just slowly goes on with life…no tension…no worries…just chewing the non-existent chewing gum forever and ever and ever.
    I have a liking for dogs…but I just love eagles (yes, i know…they are birds…but still ๐Ÿ™‚ )
As far as color is concerned…I love any color as long as it is blue!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

sulz: haha, going through second childhood with that post. ๐Ÿ˜› yup, i like that too!

birds are animals too and the eagle seems to be well-respected of its species. ๐Ÿ™‚ blue is the universal favourite colour, did you know that?

  11. i love dogs! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. i lovd cats
