blogging gobbledygook and such

To complement the must-read list. These are, in self’s opinion, the most overrated contemporary books.

  1. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Douglas Adams – just like the characters who are lost in space, so was this reader.
  2. The Nanny Diaries Nicola Kraus & Emma McLaughlin – the most awful, anticlimactic ending that supposed to be upright and realistic but really, it just kills the joy of rooting for the protagonist.
  3. The Joy Luck Club Amy Tan – weepy, traditional Chinese-centric stories are obviously not self’s thing.
  4. The Catcher in the Rye J.D. Salinger – neither is ladlit.
  5. The Devil Wears Prada Lauren Weisberger – but the movie will be better am certain.

Don’t get self started on the books that self did not manage to finish…

Comments on: "What’s your must-not read list?" (4)

  1. i rather like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. 😛 quite witty and thought-provoking.

sulz: for the life of self just could not follow the plot; half the time was flailing about like the protagonist. but then again, to each his own.

but you’re supposed to tell your must-not read list.

  2. errm…well, my must-not read list? well…i can’t remember the titles cause i gave those books away…no thanks to the insignificant plotlines and cheezy characters. >: P sorry ya

  3. WHAT?!

I am boycotting your blog from hereon.

Well, maybe not. But I can’t believe it! The Hitchhikers’ Guide and The Catcher in the Rye are two of my favourite books of all time and ever. 😮

I hated a series of books about a boy who could talk to lions. I say series – I read the first one. It’s by a girl and her mother. Isn’t that sweet? Huh. Rubbish, is more like it.

sulz: hahaha… i seriously don’t get those books. maybe you have better literary taste than me. 🙂 i haven’t heard of that series, maybe i’ll like it since you hate it, lol!

  4. Awww I loved “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, I am reading the second one now. It’s so confusing it’s great! It’s so insane that I love it just for that. Douglas Adams was a freaking genious, he’s my hero too.

sulz: i just don’t get it, i’m afraid! i’d like to watch the movie though – maybe it’s more entertaining and makes sense to me then. 😀
