blogging gobbledygook and such

Before I write about my road trip, which you all must be dying to know by now πŸ˜‰ I’ll post a quick one about my previous Friday night.

If you had read my previous post, you’d know that I said I’d treat my friend to dinner for winning RM100, and I did just that. Angel came over to my house to check out my new room, gave me a pedicure πŸ˜› and then went for dinner.

Maybe we were too hungry and didn’t have the usual capacity of hunting for a new place we haven’t tried, so we just settled for good ol’ TGI Friday’s.

Yes, I sure would love more Fridays. Especially the ones where I’m on paid leave!

For our drinks, Angel chose the sweet, blue concoction while I chose a sour, pinkish November Sea Breeze which is not good. I remembered drinking a really nice drink from one meal in Friday’s before but I couldn’t remember the name. I think it’s Cranberry Fizz now.

dsc00938

Had some quesadillas for appetiser.

I had the Chicken & Shrimp Pasta Diablo, which Angel had in our previous visit to Friday’s and I loved it. Still like it, but once you get to the bottom the pasta drowns in olive oil and that is a little gross. Otherwise, it’s good!

Angel had some healthy-looking pasta.

For dessert, I chose this cute Oreo Chocolate Mint Mousse, which is served in a shot glass. Was cheap and tasted nice, but I’d prefer some cake.

Now, that wasn’t all to our Friday night. Angel, after much persuasion before tonight, convinced me to plonk RM50 to enter a club. Me, sulz, clubbing! Very odd combination, isn’t it? No pictures, though, of the club I went to because I was too busy trying to look cool and fending off unwanted attention from guys. NOT!

There were hardly any people at the club for a Friday night, according to Angel. The dance floor was half full with two less people in it because Angel wanted to dance with me but I wanted to dance with a real man. HAH!

I went there for purely official blogging business and just to tick the List of Life Experiences no. XX – “Entering a club.” What I thought of the experience:

1. People do not dance well at the club, unlike in the movies. Or maybe it’s just the way Malaysian clubbers dance.

2. But they look like they’re dancing quite well, thanks to the lighting.

3. I enjoyed the music more than I expected I would.

4. People do a lot of staring at the opposite sex here. Naturally, I did my fair share.

5. I am acquiring a taste for alcohol!

And one last observation: I am hopeless at this clubbing thing because I caught a cold after half and hour sitting at the bar. 😳

Pictures are credited to Angel and her camera phone. Thanks for the company! I’d never have gone to a club with anyone else. πŸ™‚

  1. That food looks really nice, I don’t think I’ve ever had nice food like that! The Oreo thing looked just delicious!

I went there for purely official blogging business and just to tick the List of Life Experiences no. XX – β€œEntering a club.”

That was the reason I entered a club first. Ticking list of experiences. Knowing what’s the deal with this human ritual. But I did like the drunk dancing.

People don’t worry about dancing that much because of the lights! Like I told you, I dance like a freaking maniac! I would be the shame of Latinos, who have the reputation of being good dancers. πŸ˜€

Some people here do dance really well.

Also the dancing is very sexual. Legs intercrossed and all. That’s why I ended up making up with that stranger during christmas. And I had like 13 drinks that night.

sulz: i’m sure colombian food is pretty good too! if you ever come down here i’ll know where to take you for dinner now. πŸ˜‰

yeah, i suppose if i drank more than two drinks i might be drunk enough for angel to drag me to the dance floor, haha. as it is, we only got the free drink from the cover charge and another from her bartender friend, so, too bad. πŸ˜›

nothing sexual about the dancing i saw. i did see a couple who were quite into each other but nothing revolting. it made me laugh, though! πŸ˜†

    tsk, naughty nessa. πŸ˜›

I use to go clubbing a lot when I was underage, so I lost interest quickly. Or maybe I just got old quickly. I find clubs to be hot, gross, sweaty places, where the men think that rubbing their bits on me while I’m trying to go to the bathroom is sexy and the women think they look hot even when they’ve sweated their too much make up halfway down their faces and they’ve got their undies sticking out.

sulz: it was very cold at the bar that night for me! then again, it wasn’t crowded at all. i’m too introverted for clubbing.

  3. lovelyloey said:

How did you catch a cold in a club?! You should totally have danced and sweat it out. LOL.

And the pasta Angel had looks really strange with broccoli. It’s sticking out (literally).

sulz: that was angel’s line but i have the will of an ox! yeah, she didn’t like it, actually.

  4. I think good lighting at any club makes the best deal of anyone!

TGIF in fact always has nice music. Do they in play any Malaysian numbers there?

sulz: yeah, it does seem that way! i don’t really notice the music in tgif because i’m too engrossed in the food and conversation. πŸ˜› i don’t like the cheesy cheers they have to do though!

  5. clubbing for blog..! πŸ™‚
it is a life experience for sure as i haven’t had that yet.. maybe this one i’ll just pass..
good you had a good time..

sulz: i will do many things for the sake of the blog! πŸ˜› i try to do something at least once just to confirm if i really do like it or otherwise.

Hey…you did not mention where we went for clubbing!
I felt like i’ve disapointed you that night coz i was REALLY expecting a crowded club on a friday night. I don’t care…we need to go there one more time on ladies nite….

sulz: haha, must say ah? ministry of sound lor. πŸ˜€ honestly, i think it was better that it was not crowded that night. i might’ve been very intimidated!

ladies night free right? free baru i masuk… πŸ˜› when’s the next public holiday which falls on a friday? hehe.

  7. So u had a good time!! atleast one resolution is over πŸ™‚

sulz: it was not bad. entering a club is not in my list of things to do before i die, but when the opportunity arises, i could be persuaded. πŸ˜‰

  8. The things we bloggers do for our readers really know no bounds. Clearly. The blue drink though? Stay away from that!! I hope your cold clears up soon.

sulz: haha, doing it for myself is just not fun if i’m not interested in it. turning the experience into a blog post, however… that’s fun! πŸ˜€ oh, that was a non-alcoholic one and tasted better than mine, bah.

i catch a cold when i’m in between temperatures – like going into a warm outdoor area, then coming back into a cold, indoor place. it usually goes away once i’m out of the cold. i’m quite a wuss when it comes to cold!

  9. the chocolate mousse looked yummy πŸ˜›
the pictures are well shot πŸ˜› ( appreciation solely for angel ) πŸ˜›
and clubbing…well i have heard of it but i dont know what people exactly do……..just dance like they are on high …..ahh then in that case i would avoid it …..but its better to sit and laugh away at the the way people dance πŸ˜†

sulz: it was minty and i like it but it was too light for me. but i was quite stuffed with the food by then. πŸ˜€ hehe, but she complained about the bad lighting there too. she’s saving up for a proper camera though. πŸ˜‰

well, we actually looked quite odd because we just sat at the bar most of the time while people were milling about, dancing… at least i felt so! it was probably more conspicuous because it wasn’t crowded that night. angel is insisting i go on ladies night now, gah. πŸ˜›

  10. besides……..angel didnt have anything for dessert? πŸ˜† (greedy me πŸ˜› )

sulz: she didn’t order any and she doesn’t like chocolate mint, haha. i’ve always been the bigger eater of the two anyway. 😳

  11. Sounds like a fun night out. I have never tried Friday’s I guess I am going to have to give that a shot. The pasta looks pretty good. Keep up the nice blog!

    -Jake

sulz: thanks. yes, you should. πŸ™‚

  12. you’ve been awarded..
    check out my blog. πŸ™‚

sulz: wow, awesome! thank you, going there right now.

  13. never mind……i will be the biggest of all πŸ˜›
    ladies night out πŸ˜†
give it a try maybe you will enjoy it :p

  14. You wanted to club for the blog?! πŸ™‚

You should have asked one of the real men who were oggling at you or ones you were trying to fend off to dance with you! Next time πŸ˜‰ Asking a stranger another one of that huge list right? πŸ˜€

Glad to hear you are having a good time!

Here is a toast to good times and more of it! πŸ˜€

sulz: yes i did. haha, that was a joke. as if there were any real men there who wanted to dance with me! πŸ˜› oh no i would never ask a guy to dance. i don’t even dance.

i hope you are having a pretty good life yourself right now too! πŸ™‚

  15. btw, I also hate chocolate mint! Always felt that it was a weird combination! πŸ™‚

sulz: i don’t hate it but angel does. it tastes quite all right to me! πŸ™‚

  16. So, Angel is nor a Real Man! Thank goodness for that. πŸ˜‰ I always enjoy your food pics. These all look yummy, and now I’m hungry. Chocolate mint is good! A Real Man would know that! πŸ˜› I haven’t gone clubbing in a while; I’m not sure you have made me want to try it again. πŸ˜‰

sulz: hahaha! haha! wow, can’t imagine muse the clubber… must be all very hippie and stuff.

  17. I know they are popular but I have never eaten at a Fridays. They just never appealed to me.

I was never a clubber. Dancing and I are from different universes. πŸ˜‰ Putting me on a dance floor is akin to turning a bull loose in a china shop -disastrous- and unsafe for anyone within a country mile of any gyrations I make that could be even loosely translated as dance steps.

It is good to see you out having some fun and not fretting as much. πŸ™‚ Live life as time on this planet Earth is always shorter than we want.

sulz: oh, give it a try. maybe you’ll like it better than hooters. πŸ˜‰

hmm, how did you know you’re a bad dancer?

i see that it’s a good thing now that i lack a social life. i’m broke enough as it is with the few friends i hang out with! πŸ˜†

  18. roflmao @ Hooters. I have been to Hooters twice in different cities. The first time as a college field trip the second with a bunch of co-workers wanting to see pretty women in skimpy clothes while eating. (Now if I know much better places to go than Hooters if seeing scantily clad women is my goal.) The thing is despite the distraction of hotty waitresses – Hooters really does have excellent chicken wings and better than average food on the menu.

sulz: hah, i knew it! πŸ˜‰ that’s what all the men say about hooters – excellent chicken wings. i think they really mean chicks.

  19. These kinds of posts always make me hungry. And I’ve only just eaten!

I’ve never really seen the appeal of clubbing, but then I’ve never been the type to dance much at parties. I suspect that half the people there are only there because they’re looking to pull! I am slightly mystified as to how you managed to catch a cold there, though. Wasn’t it boiling? Hope you feel better now.

Ah, alcohol! Mankind’s finest invention in the field of beverages! Endless fun, embarassment, and sickness to be had there! Usually in that order… πŸ˜‰

sulz: ah, the joys of being a growing boy – always hungry! πŸ˜› haha, that’s me – instead of catching a guy i caught a cold! i’m quite a wuss when it comes to temperature – too cold and i sneeze, too warm and i sweat. πŸ˜• i’m wary enough of the sickness bit to not ever get drunk. i’m frightened to death of throwing up!

  20. I am feeling really hungry right now. πŸ˜€

sulz: haven’t found a good spot to dine at manchester? πŸ˜›

  21. hahaha…hungry people, let’s go to TGIF NOW!

your blog is bad for people who is on a diet lah…

I ate at Nando’s for dinner today πŸ˜€

sulz: yeah, next time i meet up with a blog buddy, have to bring him or her there now. πŸ˜€ haha, well, not many of my readers are, i think! or are you??

hmph, now that is one place i would not recommend my blog readers ever! *shudder*
