blogging gobbledygook and such

I swiped this off Facebook, where Katm tagged me and Raincoaster reminded me that I could do this in my blog. Duh, why didn’t I think of that??

Anyway, here it is.

fb-tag

This is the cover to the first album from my fake band. You too can have a fake music career. Here’s how it’s done

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random” or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. If it’s already the name of a band, you can hit random again.

2 – Go to “random quotations” or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5 – Post it to Facebook your blog with this text and tag the friends blog buddies you want to join in.

I’m lazy to tag one by one, so I’m tagging everybody in my blogroll. Which means some of you are double-tagged, ‘cos I tagged you in Facebook too.

As I commented in my Facebook tag:

“this ‘album’ is so apt. i love the picture, Solbiate is a municipality in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 km northwest of Milan, (Italy) a country i would love to visit and the ‘title’ of my ‘album’ is something i really must do in order to move on in life.”

Don’t you think so, especially reading the personal struggles I go through in my daily life here in my blog?

Hmm, I wonder what music my ‘band’ would most resemble… combine the music of Mika, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, and you’d get solbiate: catchy, happy, melodious, soulful stuff!

Comments on: "I’m in a ‘band’ and just ‘released’ my own ‘album’!" (17)

  1. I think like this tag!

I usually shy away from most, but this requires very little effort and looks like fun!

sulz: yup, very simple and random! i hope you’re releasing a nice ‘album’. 😀

  2. I will release my album after 2 non-tag posts! 🙂 Just did one….and boy that was a tough one…so a short break. Though will do it in FB 🙂

sulz: whoa, you haven’t even released your ‘album’ yet and already you’re so busy. 😉 take your time, of course!

  3. Niice! I’ll do it, I think I will.

I like your music taste. Jason Mraz is pretty cool. However, if I ever end up making an album, it’ll be pretty weird because one-third of it would be Punk Rock like Green Day, one-third Alternative/Soft Rock like Coldplay and one-third other soft and melodious stuff like Jason Mraz, Daniel Powter and so on. Either it’ll be a runaway success or a super failure. The second option looks more likely. 😛

sulz: oh you should, it’s fun and simple! maybe you need to have separate music projects, you know – like damon albarn from blur and his cartoon band gorillaz.

  4. oh, pretty purple flowers there. I did this once before and wound up with some urban industrial scene as my album cover. It’s a very cool trick.

I saw over in the forums that Sulz was in a band and absolutely had to stop over and see what the situation was.

So which instrument do you play? Keytar (80’s combination of a keyboard and guitar)? To me a band is not a band without a wicked keytar player…and a woodwind section. 🙂

sulz: goodness, are you still around? i thought you’re busy with your new baby boy and all. i never did say congratulations for him, did i? well, now i’m saying. 🙂 congrats!

i’d play the triangle. it’s very pivotal in my music. instrumental – pardon the pun – in keeping me away from actual musical instruments that require some degree of musical talent to play them!

  5. I like your album cover! 🙂 That was a good combination, I think. Not only is it apt, like you say, but it’s also pretty convincing looking.

Funnily enough, I’ve encountered this meme before as a forum game elsewhere. That time I ended up with a band called “Ecotage!”; the album was called “A Universal Experience”, and had a picture of upturned glasses on the cover. “Power metal defenders of nature!”, as another forum user remarked.

sulz: that’s the beauty of this meme – i don’t think anything will look unconvincing! i was lucky mine is almost true to my personal experience to lend some ‘authenticity’. 😆

haha, your band sounds like you use recycled stuff and make music with it. 😛 very new age and all. and maybe a track on glass music?

  6. […] a while since I’ve done a memetic post, so this is probably due.  Sulz created her own “fake album” using the following […]

  7. The cover is beautiful, and the titles meaningful. Amazing; seems perfect for you. I hadn’t seen this one before. Thanks for bringing it along from Facebook. I have done mine; will post it soon. 🙂

sulz: i know! and even if it didn’t coincide with my personal struggles, it’s still cute and funny ‘cos it’s so random. 🙂 looking forward to yours! wonder what sort of ‘music’ your ‘band’ plays? 😛

  8. it’s surely raining tags everywhere i fear going to any tag post fearing i will be tagged.. already have a few pending ones..this one seems nice different and refreshing..

sulz: and easy and cute, you left that out! 🙂

I wanna do this. Maybe I will, in a little while. XD Good plan.

sulz: well, quick, don’t keep your ‘fans’ waiting too long! 😉

  10. […] on March 2, 2009. Filed under: Games, HowTo, Musings | According to my blogfriend sulz, I now have my very own (faux) band! She’s tagged me with this Meme, and I found myself […]

  11. Testing testing. 123 123

  12. Okay, comments work now. Did I tell you that this line – “In this blog there are no strangers. Only friends who haven’t met.” is so brilliant?

sulz: you still haven’t told me how you managed to comment in the previous theme if you said it was wonky!

hehe, thank you. i stole that line from an irish restaurant here. i replaced the word ‘restaurant’ with ‘blog’. 😀

  13. Just gorgeous, sulz. The photo is great! I always knew you were a star.

(Although I must admit solbiate sounds slightly salacious. It’s 1,000 times better than the Meat Puppets, though. 😀 )

sulz: haha, thank you! 😉 i thought solbiate sounds like some sort of italian sausage or anchovy. 😛 but it sounds quite on if my ‘band’ plays sad, melodious music.

  14. Wow! This is fun!! 😀
I’m gonna do this today!! 😀

sulz: your chart-topping ‘album’ will complement very nicely with your best speaker award. 😉 congrats, by the way!

  15. […] has tagged me here Actually she has double tagged me – on the blog and […]

  16. Oh, I used to write the comments in Firefox, try it and it would never work. Then I would copy the url, open it in Google Chrome, copy the comment, paste it and wallah, it worked!

sulz: all that trouble just to comment, awww! 🙂 well, it works now right, i hope? i like this theme better too!

  17. Wow, this is crazy like sh**, and fun!

    Band name: 101 Damnations
    Album name: Get a Slurpee

    😛

sulz: haha that’s really cute! what’s the picture of?
